“… I know that noise is a part of living in this area, but it’s every morning with these people.”
“Then, like two nights ago, at 1 am, some guy was just honking repeatedly– not a car alarm, either, because it was totally irregular, and lasted like 20 minutes.
“Isn’t there some sort of city ordinance against non-emergency honking in residential areas? I mean, obviously I’m not gonna really ever do anything about it, but if I want to yell stuff out my window, do I have a case?”
What kind of New Yorker are you? Since when was “a case” ever needed to yell out your window? Screaming at obnoxious people who piss you off is a birthright for everyone that lives in NY. Embrace it and don’t think twice.
I’ve lived on L.P. since 1994, and the horn honking still gets to me. You’d think these people never heard of cell phones.
A lot of the morning honking is from people who are blocked in on alternate side of the street days–you’ve probably noticed that everyone just double parks for 1 1/2 hrs. If everyone who did this left a cell phone # in their windshield (I do this), some of the honking might be avoided.
Other than that, screaming out your window is probably the best solution. If we both do it at the same time, I’ll wave to you from down the street.
I do live at 350 Lincoln Place since April 2006, my problem is actually the neighbor from the next door building 326 i believe..there is someone there who puts very very loud music every week end (reggae flavor)..I am tired of calling 311..as nothing is happening, what should I do about it?
