…and you can tell them what you think, Wednesday evening. Easternpkwy writes: “If you are interested in Mount Prospect Park (its condition, its security, its usage, or its potential), do not miss this meeting:”
Wednesday, July 20, from 6:00 to 8:00
Boardroom, Brooklyn Museum
Easternpkwy continues: “Community Board 9’s Parks, Recreation, and Culture committee will be discussing some specific proposals for redesigning the park. We hope that, from this meeting, we can organize a working group of neighbors and park users who can further develop plans to improve Mount Prospect and draw it more closely into the fabric of the neighborhood. Everything is ‘on the table’ at this early date.”
“If you (like me!) use the park to relax, to walk your dogs, for the playground, please come out and get informed and involved. If you DON’T use the park, for whatever reason, and have some suggestions that would make it a friendlier place, please come out as well!”

Isn’t that the same night and time as the DH happy hour at Soda Bar?
Man, that park could use some redesign. It’s only use right now seems to be for cricket players and sketchy types who hang out near the top, either making out or looking generally ominous.
Ah yes it is – a competing event. Maybe we should appoint a delegate to attend that meeting…
did anyone go? know what happened? i’d love to get involved.
friend of mine, president of the board of one of the big buildings next to Turner Towers, had run into Latetia James (I think that’s the councilwoman’s name..). none of this is from Weds night’s meeting:
apparently some decent cash was budgeted for the park. one idea thrown in was actually a bridge over Flatbush connecting the big park to the little park, to provide easier access to the BBG and BMA, esp. for Slope families w/ kids. not sure how nuts I am about that one.
anyway a lot of neighborhood dog owners use the little park for some unsanctioned off-the-leash time in the mornings, myself included (I own Stereo). I’d trade the illegal but whole park for romping in exchange for a dedicated but smaller dog run, probably along the southern edge that borders the BBG. that and a burbler fountain thing like in the big park.
