"Heights Coffee Lounge" is coming to 335 Flatbush, across the street from that little coffee shop that sells Krispy Kreme donuts, and a few doors down from Wing Fat (now Wing Fat, Inc.).
This is the storefront formerly occupied by Slope Heights Realty, which has moved a few doors down the street.
That “little” coffee shop across the street is Lorena’s and it SUCKS. Their bagels are like hockey pucks and the owner is a real jerk. I am hoping that Heights Coffee is better. Meanwhile, doesnt that Chocolate Monkey place down the block serve coffee? As far as I know, the Muddy Waters lady owns that place too.
I talked to a guy who was going into that soon-to-be coffee place and he said it’ll be open in two to three weeks.
What’s Chocolate Monkey like during the day? Every time I go past it seems empty. And why did Muddy Waters close down anyway?
Muddy Waters closed because it sucked. Bad coffee, inattentive service and I never felt like I could hang out in there. Chocolate Monkey? Like City Lighting, it never knows what it wants to be. Coffee shop? Lounge? Club?
Make up yer damn mind and do a good job.
That said, I’m hungry for a good coffee shop. Gorilla’s great, but something closer’d be nice.
please let them have good bagels. and please let them have a toaster. and scallion cream cheese. and if not, please let them go out of business so la bagel delight can move in.
So glad Heights Coffee opened, now I have some where to hang out on my side of Flatbush Ave. Great coffee, finaly some where with space and a cozy atmosphere. Hope you keep up the good work.
Heights Coffee is a great addition to the neighborhood. I used to waste my money at the $tarbucks, but now it goes toward a much better cause. The location is lovely and the room is fit for hours of relaxation. Great praise is due whoever brought this coffee shop to the same street as the Chocolate Monkey Bar.
The Muddy Waters lady is extremely rude and no one I’ve spoken to has had a good experience n her shop. She’s opened back up, though, so enter at your own risk. Across the street is Half, a coffee shop during the day and a cozy wine bar at night. Nice place, though the music can be a bit loud during the day. Definitely worth checking out if you’d like a place to hang during the day.
The Muddy Waters lady is named Ntozake (“en-toe-ZAH-kay,” after the writer, though I think I have heard people call her “oza” or something like that), and to be blunt, she is the most rude, disrespectful, attitude-filled proprietor of anything I have ever met. The space is cute, the Chocolate Monkeys are yummy, and you could not PAY ME ENOUGH to patronize her shop. Karma is a boomerang, is all I have to say.
The coffee at “Heights Coffee Lounge” is terrible. I also so not like the asmosphere. The decor is nice and the seats are comfy, but that is about it.
I see they are now serving beer and wine. The place closes at 9pm. What is with that. I think that Gorilla has the right idea. Sell what you know. Coffee.
The Muddy Waters/Choc Monkey lady is really unbalanced. I’ve seen some scenes that have almost gotten physical between her and other people – both men and women. She actually scares me. The one time I got coffee there (when I first moved to the hood before it closed and reopened) she didn’t give me change. Not just a few cents, but the majority of a dollar. She just took my money put it in the register closed it and walked away. I wonder how she manages to stay afloat.
Coffee kid? You know nothing about coffee.Leave it along. Why don’t you come from under your corporate shill and let us know who you are.
After yesterday – Muddy Waters will never see my business again. I agree with coffee kid – that woman is truly unbalanced, downright rude and quite possible psychotic. Her mere presence ruined my day yesterday. First day of sun – I should have known better than to go in to that establishment and have my joy hijacked!
I agree that Ntozake, the lady at Muddy Waters, is not a particularly nice proprietor and human being. Awhile back I humbly requested a paper cup as I was leaving and wanted to take my coffee with me. She refused and punched me in the mouth.
