Do you have a wireless Internet router? If so, do you leave it open? Or were you even aware that your neighbors can just plug in through your connection, unless you specifically set it up otherwise?

Yes, Wifi is free @ Half Wine Bar Lounge.
Also, in the lawn at Brooklyn Museum of Art (when the weather is nice, natch).
And when the weather is not nice, there is also free wifi in virtually every gallery of the Brooklyn Museum, as well as in the lobby and cafe.
I have wireless but it’s set up with a password. I don’t mind sharing with people I know – (ie the tenants upstairs and downstairs). Total strangers? Not so much.
No one around me is sharing either – there isn’t a single network picked up by my wireless card.
Gorilla Coffee (ok, so it’s in PS) also has wifi.
Apparently Ozzie’s on 7th makes you pay for it but everyone surfs off the router in an apartment in the same building for free.
Le Gamin has it.
And don’t forget Muddy Waters on Vanderbilt. The NoLandGrabbers used to meet the all the time, until they threw us for a loop once or twice by closing early.
muddy waters is gone. closed. over.
The other day i was waiting for a late friend in Great Lakes (ok, thats wayyy park slope) on 5th ave and 1st st, pulled out my ‘pooter and yay, online.
