I can’t find anything about the vote on the proposed ban being cancelled. This article, written by an attorney and published today, seems to suggest the ban is still a real possiblity:
He quotes an MTA official as saying there may be a vote as early as March, and that they are reviewing commments submitted during the 45-day comment period that ended Jan. 10.
I had gotten the info from the NYC photobloggers mail list:
“I just called the MTA permanent Citizens Advisory Committee, http://www.pcac.org to see what they knew. Interestingly enough they confirmed that the vote was dropped from the Feb. lineup for further review. This was due to the amount publicity this issue has received. We will know this for sure when the lineup is posted for the Feb meeting.”
That PR Newswire story is from January 7th. Apparently the vote was dropped in February due to the publicity.
Thanks. I’ll have to look into that. I hadn’t heard anything about the vote being dropped.
